Edo State Prison Break: Federal Government explains October 19 Benin Prison break as Godwin Obaseki declares curfew

Federal Government has finally explained how the October 19 prison break happened in Edo State.

Government says they suspect it to be the EndSARS protesters who attacked the prisons at Alias Custodial Centres in Benin and  Oko onside Benin City on Monday morning and free inmates tat were there.

Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) explained in a statement that tells what happened that led to the escape of some inmates in the Southern Nigeria State.

“What happened very bad as it does not portrait the peaceful, no violence, no destruction protests that the #EndSARS protesters have preached about" NCoS Public Relation Officer, DCC AC Njoku added.

“The exact figures of police inmates that escaped and no casualties have been confirmed yet and we will let you know the figure after preliminary investigations”.

The Nigeria Correctional Service added that efforts have been put in place to calm the situation and return everything back to normal in the centres.

And the Armed Squad Personnel of the service is working tirelessly to bring the situation under control, he added.

The service also advised people of the public that they should go about their businesses in peaceful manner, resist and don't allow anybody to use them to destabilize the peace in the States.
