Lekki toll gate End SARS shooting latest: Lagos State Government confirmed 30 people injured

Lagos State Government visitation to one of the victims.

Lagos State Government has confirmed at least 30 people injured after 'Security Operatives' shot End Sars protesters at Lekki Toll Gate area in Lagos, south west Nigeria on Tuesday.

According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, currently 10 patients at the Gen Hospital, 11 at Reddington and 4 at Vedic; with small to moderate levels of injuries while 2 are receiving intensive medical care while 3 patients have been discharged.




What happened?

The reporter that were on ground at Lekki Toll Gate around 6:45pm Nigerian time said soldiers formed wall alias barrier around the protesters that refused to run.

The protesters that were around insisted that they will continue the protest against police brutality.

The soldiers first shot what sounded like live bullets at the sky first, then they  began to shoot fire works to pursue the protesters, reporters on ground said this.

The protesters did not accept to leave the protest ground but started singing the national anthem.

Later, one of the protesters who started a live video begin to show people that were hit and injured and the bullets they found on the floor.

How many people are dead?

It is not clear yet, authorities have not said anything about number of people dead. The only figure the Government gave are about 30 people injured.

But eyewitnesses that were on ground have said at least some people are already dead.

‘Black Tuesday’

Churches and hospitals have opened their doors.

Big churches around Lekki area have began to send messages on social for people who are stranded to come and rest.

Covenant Nation, Elevation and Daystar are some of the churches some that have opened their doors.

Hospitals too have also sent messages that they are ready to treat victims.

What presidency have said?

presidency haven't said anything yet.

But Nigerian Army have posted several tweets on their social media accounts to deny their involvement in the incident and tag some reports that said they shot protesters as fake news.

While Lagos state government said investigation will be carried out concerning this incidence.
